These State Bank notes from Detroit used the "Lyman's Protection" design. The notes were printed with block "sections" with the One Dollar covering one third of the paper, Two Dollars covering one half, Three Dollars two thirds, and Five dollar three fourths. This way, without severely altering the design, bill raisers couldn't change the denomination.
This note grades Crisp Uncirculated.
