1860 $3 The Sanford Bank note from Sanford, Maine.

This short-lived bank was organized in 1857 and suspending in 1858 for irregularities. It opened again in 1860 but failed the following year.

These notes came with either green or red overprints. This one is red and features a Vignette of farmers chatting in a harvest scene at the upper left. A young farm girl carries a basket on her shoulder in the right panel.

This note grades Fine with a lot of pinholes and some tiny edge tears.
