1860's $2 The American Bank note from Baltimore, Maryland.
This bank was revived in the early 1860's after closing in 1858 and issued notes such as this, intricate creations printed by the National Bank Note Company.
This note is covered in tiny green micro-counters and the border is made of white "TWO" and "2"'s on a black background. Quite a beautiful design. The center Vignette is titled Turning Around and shows a farmer plowing a field with horses. On the lower left is a Vignette of a two men loading boxes at a wharf. On the lower right is a portrait of Henry Clay.
This note grades Very Fine with a tiny edge tear on the bottom right.
