1860's Cr.17B $3 The State of Missouri "Missouri Defence Bond" Note from Jefferson City, MO.

This series of notes were printed by Keatine & Ball presumably after the earlier printers had been overrun by Union forces. Unlike the first series, these notes gave no indication that interest was being paid but were clearly identified as being "Missouri Defence Bonds."

This note features a Vignette of Prosperity floating over the ocean with a sailing vessel in the distance. The State Seal is printed at the upper left as well as an oval female portrait on the lower right. A bold "THREE" protector in red sits below.

This variety is printed on "TCC & Co." watermarked paper. The rarest for this denomination.

This note grades About Uncirculated / Uncirculated.
