1861 $1 The Red River Packet Company note from New Orleans, Louisiana.

This attractive Civil War era scrip features a Vignette of steamboats passing a cotton field above the title with a large "ONE" protector in green below. The Vignette is signed "CHILDS". John V. Childs was a New Orleans engraver and printer who also worked on Arkansas Treasury notes and provisional stamps for the New Orleans Post Office shortly after the war.

This note grades Fine with many internal paper breaks / splits, edge nicks, and a ~1/4" tear on the top.

It measures ~ 6.5" x 3.25".
